Sustainability
Sustainable building
The Cedarbarn Farm Shop and Café is housed in a timber frame building externally clad with cedar. It has been specifically designed to reduce any detrimental harm to the environment and to reduce energy costs. The full-length double-glazed door units that surround the building increase natural light and reduce heat loss. Energy efficient lighting is used throughout, and all glass, plastic, tins and cardboard are recycled.
Investment in renewable energy
We have invested in a 42kw solar array and a 60 kw biomass boiler on the farm to help to conserve energy.
We are part of a growing body of local producers who are driven by producing good quality, healthy, fresh food and minimising waste and food miles. We turn any leftover fruit and vegetables into nutritious meals and preserves and supplement our homegrown and reared produce from local farmers and suppliers who share our sustainability ethos.

Low food miles
We are open 7 days a week and pride ourselves on ‘old fashioned‘ service with friendly and helpful staff who are even happy to take your shopping to the car for you. We are more eco friendly than the supermarket with everything grown on site or locally, without the excess packaging and with traceability and low transport miles assured.
