PYO raspberries and gooseberries are now available

There are now raspberries and gooseberries ready to pick in the PYO field!

It’s proving to be a wonderful year for the raspberries and gooseberries this year – the bushes in the PYO field are groaning with delicious fruit that’s just waiting to be picked.

We have 1000 plants and three types of raspberries that will provide fruit for picking and for use in our kitchen from now until September and 80 gooseberry bushes that will keep us going for a while yet.

Did you know that our gooseberries featured in an episode of James Martin’s Home Comforts programme along with Farmer Karl and daughter, Chloe? It was quite a while ago, but like all good things, it hasn’t aged and is well worth a watch – the gooseberries part starts about seven minutes in.

There are still some strawberries left to pick too, so make the most of the good weather that’s forecast this weekend and join us to pick three of your five a day.

The PYO field is open for raspberries, gooseberries and strawberries from 9am to 5pm Monday to Saturday and 9am to 4pm Sundays and Bank Holidays. If you come between 11.30am and 2pm on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, you can reward your picking efforts with one of our freshly cooked pizzas or homemade cakes from the Pizza Trailer in the Pizza Paddock.

Don’t forget that the miniature railway is now open daily between 10am and 4pm, so come and enjoy a trundle through the PYO field before or after you pick your fruit.
