Congratulations, Farmer Karl!

The team at Cedarbarn are over the moon after learning that Farmer Karl has reached the final of a regional business excellence award for his charitable endeavours.

Karl has been shortlisted for The Rob Burrow Outstanding Contribution to Charity Award at the Yorkshire Post Excellence in Business Awards that celebrate Yorkshire’s best in business. He was nominated for the award after he became the first person in history to compete in the Macmillan Ride of Their Lives for a second time and raised over £40,000 for the charity following his own battle with cancer.

“The Rob Burrow award celebrates a Yorkshire company or individual which has done the most to help a good charitable cause in the past 12 months and I’m overwhelmed to have earned a place in the final alongside five other worthy winners. Thanks to everyone who supported our fundraising events and helped us to reach this amazing total,” said Karl.

Karl faces competition from Yorkshire Garden Centres, Gripple Ltd, Regal Food Group, RJC Plant Services and Rob Northfield. He will learn whether he has been successful at an awards ceremony at Headingley Stadium on 21st November. Rob Burrow’s family will be in attendance on the evening and will present the trophy to the winner.

Karl was one of a team of 12 amateur jockeys who raised £223, 947 towards a new cancer centre at York Hospital.

Wish him luck!
