Rest in peace, James

Today we said a heartbreaking goodbye to our kind and gentle nephew, James Cook.

Many of you will know James from his summers working at Cedarbarn: he loved the farm, tractors and tinkering with machinery.

After completing his degree in Law and Criminology in London, James decided to return to Yorkshire where he had a year out, working for his Uncle Karl and Aunty Mandy both on the farm and here at Cedarbarn, where he was instrumental in building the ever-popular miniature railway. He was so talented and designed, built and installed his own circuit boards for the railway points as well as building the railway track itself. Ultimately, James was promoted to train driver for the summer, as you can see from the lovely photo!

We’re planning to make some changes to the train, with James’s memory in mind, so please keep an eye on our social channels and on the website for more information.

Rest in peace, James x
